What is the difference between a Licensed Counselor and a Pastoral Counselor?

A licensed counselor is a provider of mental health services, inclusive of diagnosing and treating mental and emotional issues. He/She employs a number of therapeutic techniques. A Licensed Counselor will either possess a Masters's degree or Doctorate in counseling or a related area. He/She must have completed an internship in supervised practice. A Pastoral Counselor has a Masters of Divinity and is a member of the clergy. He/She is trained in both psychology and theology and can provide spiritual and psychological guidance to patients and their families.

How long is therapy required?

The length of treatment varies depending on the needs of the patient. Every patient is different and will be assessed and treated on an individual basis according to the individual's needs.

What is my approach?

Together we will discuss your purpose for seeking counseling and will determine the goals you would like to accomplish during counseling. I will then describe to you what I believe to be the best course and method of treatment.

How can I schedule an appointment?

Please feel free to contact me at 912-638-0180 during regular office hours (11 am-6 pm Monday thru Thursday). Should you have an emergency and need to talk with me immediately, please call my mobile at 912-399-4898. I look forward to hearing from you.

Choosing to seek help from a complete stranger and therapist is a huge step and a very difficult decision for many. Fortunately, the moment you contact me to schedule your first appointment, you will realize that your fears were unnecessary.

The daily rigors of life and its unexpected twists and turns obviously have effects on us all. We all deal differently with these crossroads. Oftentimes, we turn to friends and family members as a resource to express emotions and gather support and strength. There are times, however, when it is necessary and wise to talk with someone who can offer an outside perspective; someone who can offer a new outlook on the situation at hand. A therapist, professional counselor, perhaps.

I am Brenda B. Hollis, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and it would be my pleasure to sit and chat with you. I can offer you the comforting countenance you seek to listen and not judge. As a therapist, I can also offer you a fresh way of looking at the problem. As a team, we can make your journey through life more enjoyable and gratifying.

Where are you located?

I am located on St. Simons Island, GA 1626 Frederica Road, Suite 203.  My office is located on Frederica Road across the street from Fuse Yogurt. Please contact me today. I look forward to meeting you!
